Joaquin Lasso is Senior Vice President and General Manager, Sports Medicine International for Smith+Nephew. In his current role, Joaquin leads a multi-cultural commercial organisation with full profit and loss responsibility for key markets spanning Asia and Europe. He is a member of the Global Sports Medicine Leadership team and contributes to the development and delivery of the business unit’s global strategy.

Joaquin has more than two decades of international experience in healthcare, biotech, pharma and medical technology and has worked in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. As a seasoned leader, he has led many high performing teams to deliver innovative medical devices and life sciences solutions to help improve the access of quality healthcare to patients. He is also committed to customer centricity and has addressed sustainable and innovative solutions for improved patient outcomes.

In addition to his diverse operational experience in complex and broad-based businesses around the world, Joaquin is an active member of APACMed and MedTech Innovator where he has mentored several healthcare startups across the region.

Joaquin is from Barcelona. He has a master’s degree in biotechnology and also holds an Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) by IESE Business School in Barcelona.
